Cluster-Based Three-Dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry Algorithm: Test Procedures, Heuristics and Applications

Abstract Particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) algorithm based on the concept of particle cluster is investigated and improved. Firstly, an artificial test flow constructed, a dimensionless parameter C PTV introduced to characterize difficulty for reconstruction. Secondly, heuristics that particle-cluster algorithms must follow are summarized, three-dimensional cluster-based incorporating Delaunay Tessellation proposed tested by using flow. The criteria property then analysed verified. Combining with detection system, two flows successfully reconstructed, therefore verifying practicality algorithm.
